The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for the design and execution of Structural engineering requirements on a project, specifically in the offshore structures area, and for executing the said responsibilities as per client instructions, TPAD standards and project scope. He reports functionally to the Head of Discipline and operationally to one or more Project Managers or Lead Engineers. Be it in the context of preparation for a tender / proposal or involvement in a project as Discipline or Lead Engineer, the key responsibilities of the Senior Structural Engineer are:

1      Planning and executing Structural Engineering design for offshore structures and engineering services requirements on a project. This entails overseeing the preparation of basic design , FEED and detailed design, with output in the form of Preparation of conceptual designs (Structural sketches and preliminary sizing & weights)

  • Preparation of design basis, detailed specifications, calculation methods, derivation of concept, subcontract packages, option studies.
  • Preparation of Material Requisitions and Material Specifications,
  • Checking of drawings, calculation reports and B.O.Qs. including standardization of deliverables to Quality Systems.
  • Overseeing the proper production of Structural Calculation Reports, Main Structural Sizing and Weight Control Reports
  • Review of Vendor drawings and documents,
  • Review of drawings from other Disciplines. All design review procedures are as per GWP A302-08.
  • Identify extra work /rework and raise FICs.
  • Write close-out/ feed back reports. Create department data base. Specific design procedures for the Structural Design Checking practice are as defined in GE A 347-01

2 Coordination with Project Managers / Lead Engineers from other Disciplines for the inter-disciplinary tasks stated in Protocol General Section 1.3 and in GWP A 151-10.
3 Planning and implementation of the Project to ensure that deliverables are issued on schedule, project milestone dates are met, and given tasks are completed within the allowed budget; Preparation of scope of work, man-hours distribution; Selection of resources in consultation with H.O.D to meet the specific job requirements.
4 Technical and administrative management of the engineers / designers / draftsmen team; Assignment and co-ordination of activities within the team to execute the design / procurement related activities of assigned projects;
5 Monitoring of job progress, identifying slippage and short comings and setting solutions and remedies in consultation with Project Manager (and Heads of Disciplines if required).
6 Identifying codes and standards, providing technical expertise to the task force and enforcing quality assurance requirements of company and client.
7 Ensuring that the design is carried out as per the industry standard practices and in conformance with the quality management system of TPAD
8 Document Control: This entails the development / update of the Document Register with accurate progress information on a regular basis. Each Lead Discipline Engineer is responsible for the discipline filing system for the project. He provides weekly and monthly input for document register updating and selects useful documentation and data at the end of the project to include in the Department main filing system. Document Control procedures are defined in GWP A302-06 and GWP A302-10
9 Co-ordinate with Project Manager, other Discipline Lead Engineers and client's Lead Discipline Engineer to integrate project related data and client comments into the structural designs and drawings.
10 Assisting in the preparation of project proposals and tenders in what relates to Structural Engineering design; Responsible for technical evaluation of tender documents & proposals and preliminary design during EPC tenders for MTO purposes.
11 Identification of issues that impede project progress and reporting to Project Managers / Discipline Heads
12 Providing site engineering support, as well as other inter-disciplinary support should the requirement arise (e.g. Inspection or Procurement technical support).
13 Attending meetings with projects, clients, contractors & suppliers.
14 Participating in Internal and External Audits as required
15 Assimilating the evolution of new products and technology, and updating oneself on the latest international standards in terms of engineering design practices and their applications;
16 Conforming and contributing to the Discipline technical standards, knowledge database and Quality Procedures; Identifying new methodology of work process required for higher productivity.
17 Contributing towards, maintaining and implementing both company and client HSE Management System objectives and procedures, as specified in GWP A 302 -16 2 and the HSE Manual 1357 A - HSEM - 2
18 Complying with the applicable company procedures for the Engineering Department and the Structural Discipline as they are documented in DWP A 302 - 02, and DWP A 347 - 01 respectively, as well as those procedures in the references listed therein.
19 As Lead Discipline Engineer, when assigned on projects, responsible for managing the team of engineers, designers and draftsmen, and delivering the engineering requirements of the project.
20 As QMR / HSER, whenever assigned, responsible to ensure that the TPAD quality system is understood by Discipline members, and that the Quality Management System is implemented.

Required Qualifications
University or Higher Education:
Civil Engineering with specialization in offshore structures
Master's Degree is preferred

Computer Skills
Basic Knowledge Of: MS Office
Advanced Knowledge Of: SACS, or similar software used for structural analysis

Experience
Minimum Time of Related Experience:

-10 Years
- Experience in offshore structure : 7 years
- Experience as lead engineer : 3 years
